Injectables

Injectables

While surgery is always the way to enjoy dramatic, long-term results, some patients can reach their current aesthetic goals without incisions, anaesthesia, or a recovery period. Injectable treatments are an efficient way to turn back the clock in just a few minutes of treatment time. With different formulations of injectable treatments to choose from today, you can achieve your desired result within a matter of days and without discomfort and downtime.

Dr Teston offers a variety of injectable options in her office so that she can meet each patient’s goals accordingly. She will listen to your concerns and what results you hope to gain from your treatment, so she can match the procedure to your expectations. While treatments like dermal fillers and wrinkle relaxers are common today, it is still important to choose an experienced plastic surgeon like Dr Teston to ensure your treatment is both safe and successful.

Before Your Injectable Treatment

There are two basic types of injectable treatments available, depending on your specific needs:

  • Dermal Fillers – These formulations work by providing support to the underlying dermal layers, smoothing away lines and wrinkles from the inside out. Fillers come with different active ingredients, including hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, collagen, and poly-L-lactic acid. Each of these ingredients works in a slightly different way, but the result in most cases is a smoother, wrinkle-free complexion. Dermal fillers can also restore youthful volume to areas like the cheeks and jawline, producing a refreshed facial profile.
  • Wrinkle Relaxers – These injectable solutions also work as anti-ageing treatments, but the process is very different. Wrinkle relaxers address the muscles that lead to the formation of lines when you make different facial expressions. This procedure is most commonly recommended for lines that appear on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes. Known as dynamic wrinkles, the lines may at first only appear during the expression. However, over time, the lines may become permanently etched in the skin.

Dr Teston is experienced in both of these injectable treatments and will recommend the best option for you based on your ageing symptoms and the results you are hoping to achieve.

During Your Procedure

Most injectable procedures can be performed in Dr Teston’s office without any anaesthetic. If the injections will be placed in a sensitive area or you are concerned about your comfort level during your procedure, a topical numbing cream is an option. Injections usually take just a few minutes to complete and you will be able to return to your daily schedule as soon as your treatment is over. Patients occasionally experience mild swelling or bruising around the injection sites, but these side effects are minor and short-lived in most cases.

After Your Injectable Treatment

Results of your injectable treatment may be evident right away, and will continue to improve in the days following your procedure. Wrinkles will smooth away, and your entire appearance will look refreshed and more youthful. Injectable procedures offer temporary results, so they will need to be repeated regularly to maintain your new look. Wrinkle relaxers usually last three to four months, while dermal fillers may last six months or longer.
