Rhinoplasty (or nose reshaping surgery) is one of the most common and satisfying plastic surgery procedures performed today. The surgery addresses a variety of cosmetic concerns, and also makes structural and functional corrections when appropriate. Rhinoplasty is a precise treatment that requires experience, expertise, and a thorough understanding of the anatomy of the nose to produce positive results.
Dr Leana Teston has been performing rhinoplasty and other plastic surgery procedures for more than 24 years. She understands that she must take into account the patient’s facial proportions and other features in order to create a beautiful, natural shape and profile to the nose. She will also take the time to understand the specific results you are hoping to achieve from your rhinoplasty so that she can produce an outcome that meets your expectations.
Rhinoplasty may address a variety of cosmetic concerns regarding the nose, including:
At your initial consultation, Dr Teston will perform an examination of your nose and evaluate your concerns to determine whether rhinoplasty is the right choice for you.
There are two different techniques Dr Teston might use for her rhinoplasty procedures:
With more than one technique to choose from, Dr Teston can tailor your rhinoplasty to your precise needs and desired results.
Dr Teston will perform your nose reshaping surgery under general anaesthesia in an accredited surgical facility. The procedure may take anywhere from two to four hours, depending on the complexity of the correction. You will spend a night in the hospital, attended by a dedicated nursing staff that will ensure the early hours after your surgery are as safe and comfortable as possible.
You may be sent home with dressings on the outside of your nose and splints inside. These steps are taken to provide the structures in the nose the best environment for healing to take place. Once the splints and dressings are removed, bruising and swelling will prohibit you from seeing the full effects of your results for at least a couple of weeks. Patients are usually able to return to work and other activities within that two week period as well.
Once your nose fully heals, the results of your rhinoplasty will be permanent with the results taking 12 months to settle in. If the procedure was performed to correct structural deformities, you should also enjoy easier breathing and improve nasal function for a lifetime.
